Orthopedic & Musculoeskeletal Medicine, Sports Medicine, US msk specialist

My name is Ivan Jose Ardines Caicoya. I am from Spain, the country where I was born, completed my entire education and training, currently reside, and carry out my professional activity. I am 58 years old and come from a modest family with rural origins, who moved to the city in the 1960s.

I completed my primary and secondary education in my hometown, Gijón, in Asturias, northern Spain, a green and rainy region with spectacular landscapes and people who may appear reserved or austere, yet are warm-hearted and generous.

I completed my degree in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Oviedo (Spain) and subsequently trained as a specialist through the national MIR residency program at the Hospital Complex of Santiago de Compostela, where I developed a solid foundation in trauma care, joint pathology, and surgical management of musculoskeletal conditions.

Over the years, I have pursued comprehensive training in musculoskeletal ultrasound, completing all levels of certification through the SEMED FEMEDE School, where I currently serve as a professor, teaching diagnostic and interventional MSK ultrasound to physicians across multiple specialties. My academic involvement also includes being a faculty member of the UCAM Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Chair, contributing to educational programs, curriculum development, and collaborative research initiatives in advanced MSK imaging.

I am an active member of the Spanish Association of Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (AEMR), participating in continuous professional development and academic activities within the field.

I currently practice at AKRO Clinic in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, where I focus on sports injuries, joint preservation, minimally invasive techniques, and advanced ultrasound guided interventions.
