Sashin Ahuja is a Consultant Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeon at Cardiff & Vale University Health Board, Cardiff, UK since 2003. His practice covers the full spectrum of spinal disorders including paediatric deformity. He is also actively involved in education (convening cadaveric and interactive courses for senior trainees and consultants), training (as the lead for the centre’s fellowship programme which has AO Spine recognition) and research -Co-Chief Investigator for NIHR trial-FORENSIC UK (FusiOn veRsus bEst coNServatIve Care for chronic low back pain). Co-App on successful NIHR UK (BASIS, PRESTO) and NHMRC Australia (FORENSIC Australia) research grants, publishing regularly in peer reviewed journals and authored book chapters). He has worked on the executive boards of British Scoliosis Society (BSS), British Association of Spine Surgeons (BASS) and AO Spine UK& Ireland. He is the Co-Chair of the Spine Orthopaedic Data Evaluation Panel & Beyond Compliance (ODEP & BC) Committee. Past Chair of the UK Spine Societies Board (UKSSB) (2021-2025), Past-President BASS (2019-2021), Past Chair AO Spine UK Council (2017-2020). He is an expert adviser to NHS England, National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and Medicines and Healthcare products Regulator Agency (MHRA) UK.
