Sultan Qasim is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in foot and ankle surgery in Newcastle. He completed his orthopaedic training in the East Midlands and fellowship training at Wrightington Hospital.

He leads a tertiary service for Charcot Reconstruction and a tertiary referral service for complex neurological foot and ankle deformities at Freeman Hospital. His practice involves management of polytrauma patients at Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle — a level 1 trauma centre — and he is the immediate past head of the trauma department.

He contributes to national and international orthopaedic training courses, supervises medical students at Newcastle University, regional and international trainees, and runs a foot and ankle fellowship programme. He has presented at multiple international platforms, has led multi-centre studies, and has published on ankle injury rehabilitation, ankle fractures, diabetic foot disease, and total ankle replacement.
